Abstract: Due to undesirable changes in the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of air, water and soil people across the globe have been subjected to severe environmental catastrophes. With no signs of stabilization of population explosion, rapid industrialization, have polluted the essential resources beyond threshold In this changing scenario availability of quality water is an indispensable feature for preventing diseases and improving quality of life. It is of utmost importance to assimilate the details of different physico-chemical parameters viz. color, temperature, acidity, hardness, pH, sulphar and chloride content, DO, BOD, COD, alkalinity used for testing of water quality. Few metals viz. fluoride, lead and arsenic in their ionic form are of are major source of water contamination affecting the aquatic ecosystem and terrestrial life forms. The paper addresses the effect of different adsorbents used for removal of fluoride, arsenic and lead.
