Abstract: The flow control is an essential process in a plant. The fuzzy based controller can be used in controlling the flow of liquid applications effectively. The flow rate of liquid can be controlled by opening and closing of valve. Fuzzy inference system to control the flow rate was developed and proved that it’s response is better than PID controller. It is always challenging to implement a fuzzy controller. This paper discusses about the development of VHDL code for the implementation of fuzzy logic-based flow controller in FPGA. In this paper the VHDL code is developed for evaluating the degree of membership function of crisp input, finding minimum-maxima for defuzzification. The simulation results of VHDL model matches with the simulation results of fuzzy controller developed using fuzzy toolbox of MATLAB® version 7.11.0.584 (R2020b). Matlab. Finally, the VHDL code can be used for implementing the fuzzy flow rate controller in FPGA. The developed fuzzy controller can be used for controlling the flow rate effectively. The fuzzy based flow controller is developed using VHDL language and simulated by using Xilinx ISE 14.5 version.
